I've been here numerous times and it's really consistent with service and quality of food each time. I love the milkshakes! Sometimes when we get the bill it seems like it's over priced for what you get... But I always go back because it's worth it, there's not really anywhere close that serves this type of food with the variety you'll see on their menu.

Quaint little place. I should have read the reviews to know what to order. The crab cakes were a disappointment. The fried shrimp and oysters were pretty good.

1950's diner food - home cooking with no pretensions. I had their healthful choice grilled catfish sandwich, which was light and delicate, with good flavor. Service was quick and friendly.

I found this place through family while on Christmas holiday. It is exactly what I expected...a very local-looking, no nonsense eatery that serves what the locals really want...inexpensive, great-tasting local fare. I stayed with family in the bigger city of Lafayette to the north, but took the trek south to New Iberia to eat a really good oyster po-boy. I was NOT unsatisfied. Driving into the parking lot told me a lot. It was packed. When we got inside, there were a few open tables, though they were all dirty and had yet to be cleaned off. For this, I started with 4 stars. The waitress that came to our table of 7 was very nice and quick to take our order. We all ordered different items. I had the oyster po-boy. My partner had the catfish po-boy, etc. The food came out after a short wait. All of us were pleased by the amount and quality of our lunch. After spending about an hour there, we left, satiated and sleepy and ready to take the tour of the Tobasco factory on Avery Island.

You could do worse than to eat at Duffy's Diner in New Iberia, which seems to lack good-looking restaurants. To be fair, there are probably several but I just couldn't find them, ya know, since I don't have an iPhone and all. Still, the Oyster Po' boy at Duffy's was just fine and the sweet potato fries were downright yummy. As for everything else, I can't say. I'd give the food I ate three stars but our waitress was bad, bad, bad--one star, if that and the decor is really just not my style.

I am forever grateful to our local friends who introduce Duffy's to us. I don't mind gaining a few lbs when I head to Lafayette and their satelltie towns to eat! Although the drive to New Iberia is lengthy, the food and price is terrific. I am a fan of their fried oysters. Whatever batter they use is rather different yet delicious. Their fried roll is unique. Order their boudin balls to start off... This place gets my 5 stars for having an extensive mouth-watering menu with comparable prices. It's usually pack but we don't ever have to wait for a table.

So apparently New Iberia is known for its food in the state of Louisiana. You wouldn't know it from eating here! We did the Avery Island tour (where Tabasco sauce is made) and asked one of the employees to recommend a good place to eat. We got to this diner themed place. Very large on the inside. Took a while to be greeted by anyone, but once we were things seemed to move along ok. The place is entirely staffed by teen girls, so maybe that explains the slow service. I ordered the oyster po-boy, and hubby ordered the seafood platter. The oysters on my po-boy were soooo greasy. My hubby's plate wasn't too good either. Seafood was small and the batter was too thick and the fries were burnt. My aunt ordered the gumbo, which was runny and smelled fishy. My hubby is a chef and he noticed the crab shells had old food residue on the inside (apparently restaurants re-use them because they're expensive-gross!) The only redeeming quality about this place was the malts. They were good. Food does not warrant the prices it carries. Will not be returning.

I had high hopes for Duffy's Diner. Sigh.. The good- we had an awesome server, my husband's Shrimp Po Boy was excellent The bad- first, the place needs a good cleaning. What I am talking about is not "every day" cleaning. There's months of neglect under the tables, around the legs, the walls under the tables. Also, just try to get the lid off of the spicy ketchup (i think it was spicy ketchup) bottle..... Good Lord, it is just plain gross......bacteria heaven. The Crawfish Baked Potato - the crawfish etouffee tasted like paste. The onion rings were just okay. We're on the fence about going back. I think we will stick to Hub City Diner in Lafayette

I've been reintroduced to a place I've always liked but never wanted to slow down the "pace" and experience the "culture" the red beans and rice is what I would use as tool to lure people to this place then let the fried chicken keep you coming back. I appreciate food and enjoy it in all its varieties and consider the food here a mixture of what every culture in south Louisiana got right.

We wanted a Po Boy and went to Duffy's since the reviews had said they were good. Well our shrimp PoBoy was excellent!! For $1.50 one can order double filling and asked the waitress if one needed to order it. She kindly answered that we'd find plenty of shrimp to the final bite which was true. The shrimp was fried In a spicy batter which was excellent. We were too tired to want to eat any thing additional though the neighbor told us that they make delicious thick milk shakes If they were open for breakfast I'd go back but hope to return to New Iberia and DUFFY'S for another shrimp Po Boy!'

Outstanding true Cajun seafood gumbo! I had to drive 2 hours outside of New Orleans to find the type of gumbo I grew up eating. Also the shrimp Po'Boy was exceptional. If you are visiting the Tabasco factory or in New Iberia, this is the place to stop. We will be back if we are in the area!

I walked in to order take out, and the first thing I saw was a line of waitresses behind the counter looking miserable. No smiles (until later), just flat stares. After I stated my reason for being there, I ordered the 3 piece (white) fried chicken with cajun fries. She said it would take about 20 min, which I expected after reading all your reviews. I sat down at the bar and after 2 minutes, she said it was ready! Wow! Half awesome, half....was that fresh? Anyways, I took it back to the hotel room and opened it. The fries had good seasoning but were a but soggy - probably from being in a paper bag for 15 min. The chicken wings were great. The chicken breast was a bit dry. It came with a fried roll/donut of sorts. It wasn't sweet, so I'm not sure what it was...but I ate it all...because it was oily...meaning delicious. I immediately regret this now.

The food is overpriced and the online menu is misleading (ordered pick-up). Expect a $2-3 increase per entree. The fried seafood was fine. It was standard fare. The sides were not up to par. The fries were undercooked and the salad was chopped up and old. I had the seafood platter for $18 and my portion was tiny! It all fit into the typical styrofoam container with lots of room to spare.

I went to Duffys based on the Yelp reviews and it was the worst experience of my stay in New Iberia. It was a Saturday night but the service was so slow! It took over 1.5 hours for our meal to be served. My salad was served in a plastic container, with packaged dressing, croutons and what I assumed was bacon bits. I got a little plastic fork to eat it with. My dining partner had to change his order in a effort to get our meal quicker. In a region known for Cajan food this grub was anything but special. On top of everything else the place is filthy. Looking at the floor and lower walls was disgusting!

5/26/14: so I'm home on leave now and I decided to take my son out to lunch. We walked in and with her back turned, I heard, "you can sit anywhere." So we sat near the door. Although our waitress was ok and pretty quick, I noticed how everyone else was treated as they walked in. The lack of a welcoming environment is very unbecoming, but the food is good so I guess that's what the owners are building their confidence on. I highly suggest that you hire people who understand the importance of customer service because the hostess and STAFF seriously lacks it! I am from New Iberia and I never miss a visit to Duffy's Diner while I'm there. The shrimp po-boys are delicious! The shrimps are so BIG that when you bite into it, they are literally falling out of it! It should be added to everyone's place to eat list in New Iberia!

Double Stuffed Fried Shrimp Po-Boy & fried boudin balls. So delicious. I'd write more but really how much more needs to be said?

Ate at Duffy's on December 12, 2011. It was recommended to us at Tabasco's nearby Company Store as a great place to eat in New Iberia. And Duffy's lived up to the sterling advance word. Spouse and I shared shrimp corn chowder, fried chicken with rice dressing, onion rings and a shrimp poor boy. It was an iconic meal that was worth every calorie. The shrimp corn chowder was fresh and creamy. The fried items were crisp and greaseless-- Duffy's makes you remember just how good deep frying can be. And the rice dressing-- often called dirty rice in other places-- was superb. You'll have Tabasco sauce and Tabasco spiked ketchup at your table, if you'd like to add some heat. Portions are large (we had leftovers) and prices are a great value. Service is friendly and attentive. The 50s theme is fun, but go to Duffy's for the food. A hugely well-deserved five stars!

The food is very good. I used to enjoy this place a lot as a kid. The staff used to dress in poodle dresses and there have always served kids meal in "car" boxes. Their shakes and ice cream are also quite yummy. The staff wasn't very friendly last time I went. Each time I go they seem to be less and less outgoing (as is hinted by the lack of poodle dresses now). They were also complaining about their jobs to each other in front of the customers. Very unprofessional. But all in all, if you are looking for good local food and have never been here before--try it. You'll be satisfied.

Not bad. The wait was crazy, but we did order fried chicken (which is made fresh when ordered). The seasoning was a little light, but the chicken tasty and obviously freshly made. I had a three piece white plate with veggies for less than $6. I agree that the menu is slightly off putting. You can actually order a whole peking duck, foie gras, and baked alaska. #truestorybro

Duffy's Diner offers the area a 50's themed experience. They have a fun and friendly atmosphere that has become an institution in New Iberia. The offer dine-in and take out and serve American classics and also Cajun fare. From Burgers, Hot Dogs (with their outstanding Chili dog sauce), to Po-boys, Seafood Platters and other Cajun favorites. Duffy's is a must stop eatery if you are in the area.

Surprisingly fantastic for diner food. Catfish was fantastic, tamales were melt in your mouth delicious, none of the food was at all greasy, our waitress was wonderful. I wish there was a diner like this where I live!

Good po-boy brisket sandwich and nicely fried chicken. The potato salad was lacking something... maybe a crunch and a tang.
